Grunion Run! - La Jolla

  • Description:

    • Locals know that that Grunion Runs, kooky as they may sound, are no urban legend. Grunion are small fish that beach themselves in the moonlight in order to spawn. At this event, nature lovers enjoy a movie and lecture, then visit the beach to see the real thing. The event is presented by marine biologists from Birch Aquarium. Grunion Running takes place in late spring before and after the full and new moons, during high tide. See website for admission prices, schedule and complete visitor details.
