  • The West Shore of Lake Tahoe only consists of a few small communities and ski resort areas before you start heading into the park and wilderness area of the lake, but there are some great restaurants to stop at and fuel up before hiking, snowshoeing or skiing at Homewood, Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley USA.

Tahoe City is where most visitors (and locals) like to grab a bite to eat. If you are looking for some basic grub, try the Sawtooth Ridge Café, the Evergreen or the Fat Cat Café. At these establishments you can get burgers and fries, sandwiches, soups and salads.

For some ethnic food, try Coyote's and the Blue Agave for Mexican and Baja inspired food, the Thai Kitchen or the Soule Domain for Thai and Asian spice or Mamasake Sushi at Squaw Valley for some Japanese and Asian fusion cuisine.

Breakfast and good coffee is easy to find in this area too. The very popular Fire Sign Café will have you chatting it up with locals, Rosie's will fill you up with French Toast and Bacon and the Dam Café or Gear & Grind will get your caffeine kick in order.

For some nighttime celebrations, get (a little) dressed up and head to Christy Hill for some excellent wine, entrees and desserts, the Bridgetender on the Truckee River for some fun atmosphere or Wolfdale's for some great seafood. For those drinks you might need to massage the sore muscles, head to Jake's on the Lake for an evening…by the lake.
