  • Northstar-at-Tahoe is the closest ski resort to the town of Truckee, CA and it is a hub for things to do in this small ski town. If you are visiting Northstar, you will most likely be staying in nearby Truckee and will look for other things to do.

    If you want to get a great view of the area, check out Soar Truckee and their glider planes. From the back of an almost lighter-than-air plane you will fly over the mountains surrounding town, Lake Tahoe, Donner Lake and maybe even nearby Washoe Valley.

    While near Northstar, head to Truckee and visit the Truckee River near the railroad. This river runs from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake in the Nevada desert. For some more water fun, go to the Donner Lake Memorial State Park where you can do some kayaking, fishing or just lie on the beach or the public docks. If you would rather stay on the green, try the Northstar-at-Tahoe golf course or the Coyote Moon golf course.

    For families and children, head to the KidZone Museum in Truckee or to the Soda Springs Winter Resort for tubing or just some playing around in the snow. When the kids are away, Mom can maybe get some shopping in in old downtown Truckee. Used books can be found at the Truckee Book & Bean or a new pair of boots can be had at the Jackass Ridge.
