Boating in Lake Tahoe

Boating at Lake Tahoe is a summer and fall sport staple. You can even do some boating and fishing on the lake in the wintertime (weather permitting).

If you have your own boat, the best places to launch are Sand Harbor and Cave Rock on the East Shore or Ski Run Marina or the Tahoe Keys on the South Shore. Some of the most popular places for boating are around Emerald Bay where there are several docks, Fanette Island and a few small beaches.

Rubicon Point is an excellent place for deep water fishing. If you want to charter a boat for some fishing, contact the people at the Tahoe Sport Fishing Co. They offer fishing and boating tours all year long. Other lakes are great for boating including Donner Lake and the other two reservoirs near Truckee: Boca and Stampede.
