  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Some of the best things to do at Lake Tahoe are just hanging out with friends and family at the beach or a local park. Bringing a picnic and maybe a bottle of wine makes it even better.

For families, visit Commons Beach in Tahoe City for some low water swimming, a playground and lots of wildlife. Other local beaches for families include the beautiful Lester Beach in D.L. Bliss, Camp Richardson, the South Tahoe Recreational area, Zephyr Cove, Cave Rock, Sand Harbor and King's Beach on the North Shore.

For some places off the water, visit the Tahoe Meadows for some light hiking or snowshoeing and some bird watching. You can also find some places to sit and eat at local parks in South Shore by the ice skating rink.

Visit the Donner Lake Recreational Area for some fishing or relaxing on the beach, the local park or the several public docks on the north side of Donner Lake.
