  • If you are tired of hiking or skiing, try a little retail therapy and go do some shopping at the various shops around Lake Tahoe. There is some excellent shopping in Old Town area of Truckee. Here you can wander the streets and shops for antiques and handcrafted items, clothing, candy and sweets, books and jewelry. test.

    Another great place to shop is the Boatworks Mall or the Cobblestone Center in Tahoe City. Here you can find mountain style furniture, clothes, books, wines and food.

    At the Northstar and Squaw Valley villages are several clothing, ski, sport shops and boutiques. In South Lake Tahoe, try your luck at finding some deals at the Factory Outlets at the Y. Here you can find outlet shops for Mikasa, Levi's and Izod. Before leaving the South Tahoe area, check out the village shopping at the Heavenly resort.

    If you want to support the local arts, do some shopping at the North Tahoe Art Center in Tahoe City. Here you will find photographs of the local area and wildlife, painting, sculpture and other handmade items by local artists.
