Description:
- Their immaculately groomed 330Km of track offers everything from pristine meadows to sweeping vistas and features 90 trails of beginner, intermediate and advanced levels along gentle, rolling and hilly terrain. Four surface lifts help skiers negotiate the steeper inclines and allow them to practice their downhill techniques, while ten warming huts and four trailside cafes keep them refreshed and ready for more.
A unique experience is to take a sleigh into the Wilderness Lodge, 3 miles from Summit Station, and spend 2 days and nights sampling gourmet French cuisine, learning to ski, and touring the spectacular track system with their knowledgeable guides. Wilderness Lodge packages are all inclusive of lodging, meals, ski lessons, trail passes, hot tub and sauna.
Another treat is to visit Rainbow Lodge, a 1920's lodge, located at the far west end of the track system. It sits by a bend of the Yuba River and offers 32 cozy, comfortable rooms and an excellent selection of French and Californian cuisine in the Engadine Café. For the adventurous, there is a 22km Interconnect trail between the lodge and the ski area which offers long cruising descents, incredible vistas and adrenaline-pumping downhills.
Royal Gorge's trails offer excellent opportunities for skiers who enjoy striding, skating, diagonal stride, snow shoeing and telemarking. The ski school offers lessons for those looking to improve their technique. Unique lodging opportunities provide a variety of multi-day ski and outdoor experiences. Royal Gorge is located north of Lake Tahoe, right off I-80 at the Soda Springs exit. It is a short driving distance between Reno, Nevada and Sacramento, California.
