Kirkwood offers 12 lifts, a 2,000 foot vertical descent and over 68 runs to choose from. The lift system includes one high-speed quad chair, one fixed-grip quad, seven triple chairs, one double chair and two surface lifts. With its chutes, wide open bowls, rock drops and long gullies, Kirkwood provides an abundance of freeriding snowboard terrain. A man-made terrain park adds more fun for snowboarders.

Kirkwood Lodging Services rents privately owned slopeside condominiums all centrally located around the Mountain Village. The Village's Rocky Mountain-style pedestrian plaza is the center of activity with a bonfire, music, food and shopping all located there.

Kirkwood's 80 kilometers of cross-country ski trails offer diverse terrain for skiers of all abilities. Skiers or snowshoers can climb ridge tops, glide along the base of impressive lava cliffs and roll along creeks through picturesque meadows. The Cross Country Day Lodge houses a ski school and ski shop, as well as a rental shop fully stocked with standard, skating and telemark gear.

As long as the snowfall cooperates, a snowmobile may be the easiest way to explore wintertime Lake Tahoe's hills and trails. Enjoy a holiday guided tour through the wintry landscape. The mid-week tours include appropriate snow gear provided free of charge; on weekends and holidays bring your own or pay an additional fee. Helmets are always included. Reservations are recommended. This trail is a great spot for a family outing or a place where you can be alone. In the spring, the wildflowers carpet the scenery in copious abundance and their scents almost empower one with a burst of energy. The variety of plant life changes with the seasons yet is always spectacular. This scenic trail is about 12-miles round-trip and provides an opportunity to see wildlife inhabiting the area. During the winter the meadows are a great place to cross country ski, snowshoe and sled. Dogs are welcome on this trail.
