Shakespeare at Tahoe

Description:

The venue Shakespeare would have chosen had he known about it. Players from Northern California travel every year to Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe to perform two different plays by Shakespeare. The best way to experience this fun is to make it a weekend.

Day Note:

Once you've checked in to your room, be sure to ascertain where the transporation to Sand Harbor will be picking you up. If you drove, we suggest leaving for Sand Harbor no later than 4:00 pm, but best idea is get there as early as possible and enjoy the wonderful beach and surrounding area. A picnic basket is not required, but it makes the experience that much better.read more

    Our Local Expert Says:

Great open-air venue and fun performances in a truly beautiful setting.

    Description:

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is the premiere summer event at the lake. It takes place on what is called "the most scenic venue in the world": the beautiful beaches of Sand Harbor State Park, just south of Incline Village, NV.

Each year the festival offers one to two plays. One for adults and families and one for children. The actors and performances are top-knotch.

The festival starts in mid July and goes until mid August. Tickets are available at several levels including Premium, Lower Gallery Reserved and Upper Gallery. No matter where you sit though, you will get a great view of the lake, the stage and you will be able to dip your toes into the beach sand.

Refreshments are available at the park from several vendors, but most visitors bring their own food and drink. Wine and champagne are popular. Be sure to bring a blanket or a sweater; when the sun goes down it can get chilly.

Parking is available at the Sand Harbor Park parking lot, but get there early to get good parking and good seating if you do not have a reserved seat.

Day Note:

This day continues the Shakespeare theme. Again you will venture back to Sand Harbor to view A Midsummer Night's Dream. You know the drill...stay warm and enjoy wine. Before this you will get pampered by one of the best massage treatments at the Lake, and a fantastic lunch at your hotel. Be sure to enjoy the area around your hotel...a most beautiful area at Tahoe.read more

Day Note:

Whatever you have planned for the day you leave, be sure to stay safe, and make Shakespeare at Lake Tahoe an annual event.
