Although they are connected, these two gay hot spots operate as distinct bars. Piranha is the dance club, a high-energy space done in lush colors and fabrics complete with a VIP area (that has reportedly drawn everyone from Janet to Britney) and several skyboxes that overlook the always-packed dance floor. Of note here is the outdoor patio, complete with fireplaces, comfortable seating, and a walk-through aquarium filled with, yes, piranhas. The 8 1/2 is cool and groovy, with lots of space to relax, video screens to keep you entertained, and a small dance floor if you're feeling the need to get your groove on. This is one of the most popular gay clubs in town; as a consequence, lines are often long, and cover and drink prices are both high. Dress to impress. Open nightly 9pm to dawn.
