NileGuide Expert Says:
Excellent choice for travelers who want to stay off the Strip
11011 W Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV, United States
The Red Rock Resort gets its name from its location--right on the western edge of the Las Vegas valley, with Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area just minutes away. Located in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas, the Red Rock is a locally-owned hotel casino, one of several run by Station Casinos. Unlike many mundane neighborhood hotel casinos, the Red Rock is hip, beautifully designed, and upscale.
The Red Rock comes fully stocked with restaurants, movie theaters, and bowling lanes. Child care is also available. The pool scene includes real sand and cabanas, because a Vegas hotel casino cannot be hip without a great pool. Visitors who need a room on the west side of Las Vegas will find the Red Rock offers Strip-level accommodations, and the Summerlin neighborhood is full of restaurants and shops, all within easy driving distance. The 215 "beltway" is next to the Red Rock, so if you do have a need to travel beyond the area, freeway access is easy.
Rooms are well-designed and upscale, with all the extras you would imagine--fabulous TVs, iPod docks, and incredible views. Rooms on the west side of the resort get a view of the sandstone cliffs at Red Rock NCA, and rooms on the east side look toward the Strip. And yes, those are real palm trees on the top level of the resort.
The Red Rock has the occasional celebrity sighting, although this isn't a big place for movie star-watching. It's not that the Red Rock's artful and tasteful design is lacking--anything but. The Red Rock is a fun place, a Strip-flavored resort in the 'burbs of Vegas that gives visitors the chance to stay away from the action, but not miss anything that's going on.
