If you're looking for a cheap hotel in Las Vegas, you'll find plenty of options. Downtown hotels offer travelers reasonable rates with the Fremont Street Experience as a bonus. Staying off the Strip will give your wallet a break, plus smaller crowds and less traffic. For a budget hotel on the Strip, think about some of the older hotels with a vintage Las Vegas ambiance--at a price that will leave you some cash for the casino.
The El Cortez, in downtown Las Vegas, is an echo of the times when hotel casinos didn't require a "you are here" map. It's a small place, but its remodeled rooms get consistently good reviews. You're more likely to find deals on everything from rooms to restaurants on Fremont Street, and the pedestrian friendly covered walkway, the Fremont Street Experience, makes it easy to leave the car in valet and just walk from place to place.
Bally's might not be the first place that springs to mind for a cheap Vegas hotel, but this classic hotel offers great rates and frequent specials. It not as fancy nor as large as the newer, sleeker properties, but it's in a terrific location next door to Paris and across the street from the Bellagio and Caesar's Palace.
On the Strip, check other older hotel casinos like the Flamingo and the Circus Circus. Just off the Strip, the Orleans and the Gold Coast are two local properties that come complete with movie theaters and bowling alleys.
