  • Like many desert cities, Las Vegas enjoys temperate weather for most of the year, which makes it a great place to enjoy outdoor recreation of all kinds like golfing, hiking, and exploring. Outdoor recreation is almost a year-round possibility in Las Vegas, except for the hottest summer months.

Las Vegas is home to several golf courses, but Angel Park, in the western part of the city, is one of the most popular and conveniently located close to casinos, restaurants, and the freeway. Greens fees are lower in summer--during those months when Las Vegas' weather makes early morning the best time to enjoy any outside activities.

Want to explore the desert on horseback or on an ATV? Either option will give you a different view of popular areas like Red Rock or the Valley of Fire. While ATVs are available to rent at different places, it's much easier to let someone else worry about all the details that come along with transportation and the vehicles.

If you're looking for more laid-back recreation, you may want to do some bird watching, fishing, or picnicking. Corn Creek is a good spot for bird watching, since the springs draw in migratory birds as well as indigenous species. Sunset Park, located close the Las Vegas Strip, has playgrounds, tennis courts, fishing, and picnic areas.
