Top 10:

Things to Do Near airport, Las Vegas, NV

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Las Vegas' airport, McCarran International, is close to the south end of the Strip, making it close to a host of things to do. McCarran's close proximity to the Las Vegas Strip puts visitors a short drive away from almost anything in the resort corridor, as the Strip is known. If you'd like to stay close to the airport, however, you'll find several things to do near McCarran Airport.

The Atomic Testing Museum is a short drive from the airport and close to the University of Nevada Las Vegas. This museum is dedicated to this sobering topic, specifically the history of the Nevada Test Site in the development of atomic weapons. You'll see all types of artifacts on display, along with detailed information about the science and history of the atomic bomb.

At the south end of the Strip (the intersection of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard), visitors are just a few minutes away from the airport. The hotel casinos in this area offer gambling, of course, along with animal exhibits, like the MGM Grand Lion Exhibit and the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. At the Luxor, you can learn about the human body at Bodies: The Exhibit, or see artifacts from the world's most famous shipwreck at Titanic: The Exhibit. For more modern history, the Tropicana's Las Vegas Mob Experience brings former mobsters to life, via hologram.

The Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York-New York, Monte Carlo, Tropicana, and MGM Grand are all located in this area. If you're looking for something to do close to the airport, these hotel casinos are just a few minutes away.
