If you're venturing along north along the Strip, at Las Vegas Boulevard and Sands Avenue you'll find Venice, pirates, car collections, and animal exhibits. Exploring all that's offered at this intersection can keep you busy for an entire afternoon or evening. This section of the Strip is where some of Vegas' most significant new hotels have been built--the Mirage ushered in the age of spectacle, and the Wynn brought the era of ultra luxury.
The Venetian's Grand Canal Shoppes are a visual feast. Costumed performers, gondolas, restaurants, and upscale retailers invite wandering and gawking. After taking in Old Venice, Vegas-style, you can walk across the street to watch the Sirens battling the pirates, or the volcano exploding. You'll find a small wildlife exhibit at the Mirage, the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, that display some of Siegfried and Roy's beautiful animals.
The Fashion Show Mall is more like a mall you might find in the suburbs, except for its location and that odd cloud/UFO on the outside of the building. While many of the hotel's malls are devoted exclusively to luxury retailers, the Fashion Show offers a wider selection of shops that are in the mid-range.
Car enthusiasts are in luck at this section of the Strip. The Penske-Wynn Ferrari/Maserati dealership at Wynn displays some of the most high-end vehicles around. At the Imperial Palace's Auto Collection, you'll also find some expensive cars, but you can also see historical vehicles as well.
