  • Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area has opportunities for every kind of outdoor recreation, although that's not the only type of thing to do near Red Rock. An upscale neighborhood hotel casino is almost on its doorstep, and a historic home sits just outside its boundaries. Still, the natural beauty of this area does make outdoor activities the major things to do near Red Rock.

A scenic drive allows visitors to get a look at the striking desert scenery without leaving their vehicles, and hiking, bike riding, and rock climbing are all popular activities in and around the area. Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is the site of preserved historic homes and structures that date back to some of the earliest non-native residents of the area. The main ranch house was once owned by Howard Hughes. Some of its other owner were famous in their day, but the names of Chet Lauck and Vera Krupp will probably be unfamiliar to most people today. Bonnie Springs Ranch, which is not far from Spring Mountain Ranch, is fun for kids and families, with a "Wild West" park that stages gunfights and holds shows.

Back in Las Vegas, the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa is an upscale neighborhood hotel casino with the same types of amenities you'll find at a Strip hotel, but without the crowds. And if you're a golfer, Angel Park's greens will offer both a challenge and a beautiful backdrop--Red Rock's cliffs are only a short drive away.
