Shopping in Las Vegas is about more than the stores. Malls along the Las Vegas Strip are attractions in and of themselves, with wandering performers, elaborate faux-scapes, restaurants, and free entertainment. The Venetian's Grand Canal Shoppes are perhaps the best example of Las Vegas shopping-tainment. Upscale, exclusive retailers and a wide selection of restaurants fill the Grand Canal Shoppes, and gondoliers sing to their passengers as they float down the miniature Venetian canals, past the recreated St. Mark's square. The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood are similarly designed to make shopping a complete experience.
If you'd rather do your shopping without a sideshow, Las Vegas still has plenty of options. The Fashion Show Mall, located at Las Vegas Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road, is filled with retailers like Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton, Banana Republic, and Macy's--with no one wandering around in a costume.
Away from the Strip, the Meadows Mall (adjacent to the Springs Preserve) holds an array of shops you might find in any American mall: J.C. Penney, Sears, and Dillard's. While you'll certainly find friendlier pricing here, you will have to take a short drive to get there.
Las Vegas is also home to the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop of television fame. You can, indeed, shop here, and you'll find an unusual array of merchandise.
