• Bernard K. Passman was the world's most well known and ornate sculptor of black coral. Having discovered this unique gem in 1974 at the age of 58, Passman brought black coral into the public eye through his magnificent sculptures, intricate carvings and elegant jewelry designs.Passman Gallery recently unveiled a one-of-a-kind and limited edition collection of black coral jewelry and scupltures at their Las Vegas boutique. Passman was also a conservationist and pioneer in the coral preservation movement. He actively lobbied the government of Grand Cayman to pass legislation protecting live black coral from being harvested for commercial use. He also made sure that all of his carvings were only made from dead or broken black coral branches.
