Description:
- Not many people think about snow when they think about Las Vegas, but during winter if you drive to Mt. Charleston (more formally known as Spring Mountain National Recreation Area, which is within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest), you'll find an abundance of snow. In Lee Canyon, the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort offers ski runs, snowboarding areas, a cafe, and a bar. If you don't have your own gear, the resort offers rentals.
The LV Ski and Snowboard Resort draws a crowd during winter--it's the closest place to Vegas to enjoy the slopes. Eleven trails are available for skiers, and snowboarders have 30 acres in which to play. The elevation at the base is 8,500 feet and over 9,000 at the summit, so be prepared for high altitude. The season runs from approximately November through April, conditions permitting. Average snowfall is 120 inches. - © NileGuide2012
