NileGuide Expert tip:
Three miles south of the south end of the Strip. Shuttle available to the Strip and airport.
- The Silverton's rustic log-cabin theme seems appropriate for its off-the-Strip location. It's a get-away from a famous get-away, a mountain lodge in the desert. The Silverton is located in the southern part of the Las Vegas valley along Interstate 15, the heavily traveled highway that leads to and from Los Angeles. Next to a Bass Pro Shop and across the street from a large truck stop, the Silverton offers its visitors restaurants, entertainment, and a really big aquarium—all at a bit of a distance from the Strip.
The Silverton's casino has video poker and slots, table games, poker, and a sports book. Visitors can sign up for a player's card, the casinos' version of a frequent shopper card. You get points when you play, and accumulated points turn into discounts and freebies.
The property has eight restaurants/lounges and the ever-popular Starbucks. Their pool club, Sway, offers the standard Vegas pool service—food, drinks, cabanas, entertainment. A robust and varied calendar of events and performers, both at the pool and showroom, offers the proverbial "something for everyone."
In the free entertainment category, the Silverton's 117,000 gallon aquarium gives visitors 4,000 fish to watch. What's an aquarium doing in a mountain lodge… in the desert? Who knows, and honestly, once you find out they have mermaids, who cares? Three daily fish feeding shows let you watch the real fish getting a meal, and from 2:15 p.m. on, regular mermaid "swims" give you a more Vegasy show to watch.
