Labor Day In Las Vegas

Description:

Labor Day is a holiday to honor America’s working men and women, and in Las Vegas, the best way to honor anything is with a great party. This summer, Las Vegas’ best parties have all been next to the pool. Labor Day weekend is a good time to put on your bathing suit and investigate the Vegas pool scene. Once you’re next to the water with a cool drink in your hand, you may not want to move for the rest of the weekend. If you can pull yourself away from the water, try one of Las Vegas’ fabulous restaurants or nightclubs. Rooms are still available, although you can expect to pay a premium rate over this popular weekend. Get busy booking a room, and remember to pack your best bathing suit. ~Photo courtesy of Evil Vegeta at Flickr~

Day 1 - Las Vegas

For Labor Day weekend, pick a hotel with a great pool. The Palms has one of Vegas’ trendiest pool party scenes, the Golden Nugget wows visitors with its aquarium, and the Flamingo delivers a cool pool at budget-friendly prices. After you’ve checked in, you may want to check out Downtown Vegas’ First Friday, the monthly street festival in the Arts District, which is close to the Fremont Street Experience. If you’re more concerned with food than art, head to a restaurant at your hotel: delicious Italian at the Palms Nove Italiano; Mexican food and Margaritas at the Flamingo’s Margaritaville; or the expansive buffet at the Golden Nugget.

Day 2 - Las Vegas

Naturally, you’ll want to spend the day at the pool. Whether you’re simply soaking up the sun or relaxing in a cabana, at the end of the day you’ll want an excellent meal—and Las Vegas has plenty of great restaurants from which to choose. Alize at the Palms comes from well-known Vegas chef André Rochat, and the views are a nice side to the award-winning food. Celebrity chef Bobby Flay has a Mesa Grill at Caesars Palace. For a touch of old Vegas, visit Hugo’s Cellar at the Four Queens. After you’ve had a great meal, hit a club—XS at Encore, considered one of Vegas’ coolest clubs; ghostbar at the top of the Palms; or the retro-hip Griffin on East Fremont.

Day 3 - Las Vegas

If you can pull yourself away from the pool on your last day in Vegas, why not make a trip out to Hoover Dam? It’s a fitting way to celebrate the American worker—this modern marvel wouldn’t be standing were it not for the men who did dangerous and daring work on it. For an outing closer to your hotel (and the pool), go skydiving without a plane, or check out the latest exhibit at the Bellagio. Of course, feel free to skip the outings and just hang out next to that fabulous pool.
