Description:
When you have only one day to see the Strip, you have to make the most of it. State Route 604 is also known as Las Vegas Boulevard, or commonly, The Strip. Yep, it’s actually a state highway. This is a five mile trip, plus any side excursions, that can be either walked, taken by bus or cab, or a combination of all three. Start early in the day at the Wynn, then you’ll head south all the way to the Mandalay Bay before turning around and coming back north to finish at the TI. In the morning, you’ll be on the east side of the strip, in the shadows. In the winter months, bring a light jacket. In the summer, bring a water bottle. Each of the casinos have restaurants, snack bars and coffee bars, so you can get some refreshment anywhere along the tour.

Our Local Expert Says:
Wynn's luxurious offerings are among the best on the Strip
Description:
Wynn is named after its owner, Steve Wynn, the Las Vegas visionary who breathed new life into the Golden Nugget, remade the face of Las Vegas with the Mirage, and figured out how to sink ships in front of the Treasure Island. After changing the Strip's design aesthetic, Steve Wynn moved on and opened Wynn, ushering in (again) a whole new look and feel for Las Vegas hotel casinos.
Wynn, along with its sister property, Encore, are among the most awarded and acclaimed hotels in the world. Wynn has received more Forbes Travel five-star awards than any other hotel in the world. It's also a five-diamond AAA winner. Classy, understated luxury is the "theme" here. Instead of mega-hotel, Wynn is aiming for a boutique feel (although Wynn's size qualifies it in the mega category).
The large rooms at Wynn consistently earn high marks from travelers. Guests enjoy fabulous views, luxury bed linen, and first-class room accoutrements (flat screen TVs, of course). At Wynn, visitors can enjoy a resort stuffed full of fine dining options (22 restaurants) and a Cirque du Soleil show, Le Reve, along with a host of other entertainment options.
Built on the site of the Desert Inn, Wynn gives Vegas visitors... read more -

Description:
This hotel was appropriately christened the 'Tiffany of the Strip' when it was built in 1957 on the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevards. At that time it was truly an island, surrounded by a vast expanse of desert. Now that same location is considered one of the hottest in Las Vegas. Newly remodeled rooms in the Paradise Tower feature king beds or two queens, all with spectacular views. Jacuzzi suites are also available. The resort has a five-acre water park, with lagoons, spas and waterfalls. It even has the city's only 'swim-up' blackjack table. There is also a Wildlife Walk with tropical birds and other animals in their natural settings.

A great place to eat before a concert at House of Blues.
Description:
This restaurant at Mandalay Bay is the closest thing you can come to a blues revival without going to Louisiana. Live music has been presented by some of the all-time great rhythm and blues personalities, with Dan Aykroyd sometimes serving as opening act. Nightly entertainment usually starts around 7:30p. Everyone will love the fried catfish and succulent barbecued ribs. On Sunday, a brunch buffet is punctuated by some of the greatest gospel singers in the country.

Luxury, excitement, Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty are all a part of New York-New York. Eat a Coney Island hot dog, ride the Manhattan Express Roller Coaster, be amazed at the Cirque du Soleil show, Zumanity. Rock out at Rok Vegas, down a drink at Coyote Ugly or hoist a draft at Nine fine Irishmen. Luxuriate in the Spa, lounge by the pool, or shop at Harley Davidson or Soho Village. Just like the city, New York-New York never sleeps. At the base of the Statue of Liberty replica, the permanent 9/11 Tribute to Heroes display respectfully preserves some of the thousands of heartfelt artifacts and items that were left at the statue to honor the victims and heroes of those tragic events. Those items not on display are preserved by the University of Nevada - Las Vegas.

One of Las Vegas' most well-known attractions--and it's free!
Description:
The Bellagio's Fountains sound like a simple concept: shooting jets of water timed to music. But what sounds simple is actually a complex choreography of technology, sound, and water. Designed by WET Design, an international company that specializes in elaborate water displays, the Bellagio's Fountains are spread over the nine-acre lake in front of the Bellagio. Over 1,200 nozzles and 4,500 lights work together to shoot water 400+ feet in the air-but that's not all the fountains do. They sway, they dance, and they wow the crowds that gather to watch them.
Shows start in the afternoon, but the best time to see the fountains is at night. The combination of music and the illuminated dancing water is enchanting. Many people have already seen the fountains on television shows or in movies (most famously, the George Clooney remake of "Ocean's 11"). Romantic, spectacular, and iconic, the Bellagio's Fountains are a free Las Vegas attraction that's appropriate for anyone of any age.
An underground well supplies most of the water for the fountains. Prior to the Bellagio, the Dunes and its golf course were located here-thus, the well, which watered the golf course. The Dunes was imploded to... read more -
