It's best to consider your evening venues in terms of "early evening" and "late evening" (or early morning). A good top pick is the White Horse, just a few steps from Lake Geneva in Ouchy where you find numerous expats as well as locals competing on darts and meeting interesting people with whom to party later. Another choice for this early evening debut is Kerrigans, Lausanne's own "sort of" Irish bar with all the usual Irish beverages and a rooftop terrace with views in the summer. Good food and early evening entertainment can be found at the Bleu Lézard.
For something more Germanic and atmospheric as well as a good selection of German food and ale, there is the Bavaria to eat and warm up for the evening. A good Top pick for the interim (between cocktails, dinner and midnight or later when the dancing starts). I like a very funky bar with tons of atmosphere that's been there forever called the Lapin Vert (The Green Rabbit).
Then the party begins. At the private club MAD and you can always find a member to invite you in. It's a different great gig every night. Atelier Volant) is a popular pick in the night scene of the Flon. If you can't stand another minute of techno, the Cave at Chorus is a great jazz club with a variety of artists. Les Docks is an excellent venue for many great concerts, so check what's on when you're here. And there is always something at The Loft Electroclub which is almost entirely dedicated to techno music that attracts the young and soon-to-be deaf crowd.
