Lausanne is a business city and there are a lot of small hotels that cater to short visits by business people. Many are located near the train station such as the Alpha-Palmiers, Continental, The Victoria, Hotel Elite and the Hotel a la Gare. These properties, although of different categories, cater to the needs of business persons and sometimes have conference facilities of varying sizes.
Further up town are the Ibis Lausanne Center, and the Hotel de la Paix.
Near the Beaulieu Convention center, the Tulip Inn is a good choice. Close to some of the larger companies in Lausanne is the lovely Nash Carlton Hotel.
Designed for leisure and business is the lakeside Mövenpick Hotel which has many meeting rooms and catering areas for food and beverage as well as outstanding views of the Alps.
