Known as a city of history and culture which is not always of interest to the youngest of children, Lausanne actually has many things to offer for all ages of children. There is the Olympic museum and a large number of parks and beaches. Most hotels have facilities in Lausanne that accommodate children and there is a great deal of respect for the family in the Swiss culture which is reflected in the service and accommodations that your family will receive. These would be my top picks with which you and your children would be pleased. My first choice would be the Mövenpick with its child-friendly restaurant and ideal location on the lake. Also near the lake and the swimming pool is the Bellerive.
Although up from the lake the Alpha-Palmiers Hotel has full facilities and is spacious in the public areas (and across from the multiplex cinema). Right in the center is the turn of the century Hotel de La Paix where there is a lovely park just below for exercising the little ones.
In the center but in a quiet area are the Hôtel du Marché and Hotel Regina with very friendly staffs and a newer popular French brand Ibis which is child-friendly. Basic, but right in the medieval section with a view of the Cathedral is the Hotel City.
If your family prefers the countryside there is the Hostellerie Les Chevreuils near equestrian facilities and an enormous recreation area. For those families are a high budget, but looking for something extraordinary for their family, I recommend Le Mirador Kempinski Hotel high up on Mont Pelerin just out of town with views that your family will talk about forever.
