NileGuide Expert Says:
Sonja Holverson, local experts says that very famous artist exhibitions are frequently held in this museum overlooking Lausanne and Lake Geneva. There is also an interesting permanent collection.
NileGuide Expert tip:
Be sure to have tea and a light lunch or supper in the tiny cafe next door. Excellent terrace in summer. Check schedules in advance because sometimes there is a musical concert in conjunction with the theme of the exhibition.
- Fondation de l'Hermitage, a wonderful old house has been refurbished and holds exhibitions of paintings in a magnificent setting. The house itself is well worth the visit: the floorboards, chimneys and ceilings create an ideal decor for the string of prestigious temporary exhibitions on display. Enjoy the fantastic view of the old Cité quarter as you stroll around the superb park which surrounds this manor. A great cafeteria in the former attic room provides refreshments or a bite to eat. Organized tours for the public happen on Thursdays and Sundays. Free playgrounds are available for children.
