NileGuide Expert Says:
Sonja Holverson, local expert suggests that the best activity along the shores of Lake Leman at Ouchy is to promenade any time of year. The trail is mostly paved and goes almost forever. Along the way there are interesting and rare plants and trees that are labeled. Even in winter, it's an impressive walk. In the warmer weather, you can rest on the many benches along the way or picnic in little beaches, coves, and parks.
NileGuide Expert tip:
If you are there in winter at sunset, oftentimes the relctions of the sun turn the mist, the snow capped Alps and the Swans various shades of pink. It's magical. Facing the lake from Ouchy is Evian, France where you can arrive by scheduled ferry service for a change into a very French atmosphere.
Description:
One of the most popular activities along the shores of Lake Geneva (called Lac Léman in French) is to promenade with the locals, especially on weekends in any season. From Ouchy you can walk towards the next village Pully in about 20 minutes and then another 15 minutes and you will be in the picturesque village of Lutry. Both are medieval villages with ports for private boats and are stops on the CGN navigation company that operates on the lake.
Other activities for all ages, include boat rentals, pedal boats, rollar blading, cycling, rowing (there's a club in Vidy) as well as windesurfing, water skiing, and swimming in the lake or in the pools during summer. There are cafés and restaurants spread out along the shores and huge parks where you can picnic and barbeque afte a good game of football or frisbee and just chilling out.- © NileGuide User2013
