Leeds Restaurants
Leeds has a vibrant restaurant scene, with an overwhelming array of cuisines and restaurant styles, eating out city is a foodie’s culinary paradise. The wonderful diversity of the multicultural city adds that little bit of extra flare, as restaurants offer really authentic dishes from exotic countries around the world.
Of course, a stay in North of England would not be complete without tasting some of the real hearty delicacies of the region, in a good old English pub. For some of Yorthshire’s traditional tastes, the Cross Keys offers a filling feed. The tastefully refurbished 19th century pub has daily chef specials such as sausages with ‘bubble and squeak’ and Sunday roast with all the traditional trimmings, including the famous ‘Yorkshire Pudding’, and topped with thick, steaming gravy.
For more classy dinner out, take a trip up to the Fourth Floor. At the top of the iconic Harvey Nicholas store in the heart of Leeds city centre, the unique restaurant offers fantastic views of the city landscape by day and a romantic ambience by night. Here you can choose between an A la Carte menu or prix fixe choice, both available for lunch and dinner. If there in the day, the indulgent meal can only be followed by a Harvy-Nics shopping extravaganza.
Surprisingly as it may seem, Indian cuisine has overtaken traditional British dishes to become the nation’s favorite, and Leeds is indeed a great place to sample the spices, being overrun by Indian Restaurants and takeaways. Akbar is a good little Indian chain to watch out for around the city, as well as the award winning Nawaab. The city also offers some wonderful spots for vegetarians, many of which combine succulent Asian cuisine. Little Tokyo is found in the centre of town, offering traditional Japanese dishes which cater for every dietary requirement imaginable. Alternatively, Hansas is situated on North Street, and is an award winning all-vegetarian Gujarati Restaurant. All the dishes are freshly prepared and packed with flavor, which can be matched by a wonderful wine menu offering a selection of vegan and organic wines.
