• There is simply no other operating hotel as the San Isidro Country Club Hotel, built around 1920 as a social club in front of the recently made San Isidro Golf Court, the 'Country Club' has been part of the local social life, which equals to Peruvians social life as San Isidro since its design was ment to be residence to the educated and wealthy ones, when the old 'centro' or downtown was gradually abandoned, a process that took place between 1920 and 1940. Of those times not much is kept nowadays, many residential buildings replace old homes that actually could be called mansions, some of them in Salaverry avenue even had horse stalls on their backyards, not much of that remains and the big gardens of the elegant homes are being replaced by parking lots or second towers on tall buildings trying to satisfy the need of many to live in a small district that is probably the only homogeneous one.
