"Active" is a word that have as many meanings according to your age, your physical condition, to the fact of having or not having children, etc.: also, local weather has something to do with the kind of activities we choose, specially in a foreign city. Here's some different and varied suggestions so you can have an idea of some of your choices.
For those searching for great emotions, paragliding or sailing may be suitable options. There's some good paragliding schools and tour operators, and one of these may be Fly Adventure Paragliding School: you can choose between a quick flight over Miraflores or a full-day experience in Pachacamac.
About sailing, some tour agencies and operators offer trips to Isla San Lorenzo, depending on the weather conditions. You can enjoy birdwatching, the feeling of a kind of adventure in the sea, and being in contact with nature.
If you are in reasonably good physical conditions, you will probably enjoy a bike tour by the city, provided by Peru Cycling, or maybe taking a hike at Bosques de Zárate, one of the few natural areas relatively close to Lima, by the Carretera Central, that is, on the way to the Andes. This is an activity to be scheduled between May and November, to avoid the rainy season.
Some other activities, suitable for everyone, may be enjoying the Circuito de Playas "Costa Verde", especially now that it's summer in the southern hemisphere (from December to March); visiting the Huaca Pucllana, a nice yet short tour at a Lima's archaeological site, which may end with a gastronomic adventure since there's a restaurant located inside.
And for those who are in search of kid-friendly activities that will make children spend all their energies and sleep early and deeply, there's Divercity, a miniature city that they can enjoy three or four hours; or Alameda Chabuca Granda, an open space where there's also lots of local foods and dessert stalls; or the Magic Water Circuit and its huge, colorful fountains.
