Description:

• This charming teahouse with its marble-clad walls, stained glass panels and dripping chandeliers dates from the early 1930s, and the bygone ambiance is quite disarming. The wooden display cases positively heave with all manner of cakes, biscuits and sweets, with the most scumptious coifed with mountains of whipped cream. The speciality here is hot chocolate, and the richer the better. Bowtied waiters provide a service that can appear brusque at times, but the offhand manner usually means they are rushed off their feet, especially during lunchtimes and mid-afternoon. No surprise really as this is one of Lisbon's most elegant and historic cafés.
