NileGuide Expert tip:
Affordable city-centre bolthole
- This smart, stylish 3-star hotel is tucked into a pedestrian side street just off Restauradores, a few minutes' walk from Rossio Square and Lisbon's public transport hub: Metro, rail, tram and bus (including the airport's AeroBus) are all here. A three-tone colour scheme – black, white and lime green – and the use of 1970s retro furniture lends this property a quirky and contemporary complexion. Stencilled-print wallpaper and curtains are the only concession to patterned decoration. The 71 rooms are comfortable and attractive but economic on space. The suite advertises itself as a family room but this city-centre bolthole is a more a couples' getaway than school-holiday option. Breakfast is a buffet affair and is served in a light and airy room. The exterior wood-deck terrace is a bonus – a place to chill amid the cosmopolitan hustle and bustle. Free Wi-Fi is part of the service.
