High quality cuisine in an apt and very attractive setting.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

There's ample nearby parking. The restaurant is towards the end of the dock, almost under the suspension bridge.

    Description:

    • This restaurant owes its name to the former warehouse space it occupies on the riverfront that overlooks the docks at Santo Amaro. One of several eateries that line the quay, Doca Peixe stands out for its outstanding selection of fresh fish and shellfish that's cooked depending on the customer's preference – charcoal-grilled, oven baked, cooked in salt, etc. The menu lists an array of traditional Portuguese seafood dishes and seasonal variations, and begins with starters such as salmon and mussels fresh salad, shrimp porto-fino flamed with cognac, and tiger shrimp in spicy sauce. Specialities include octopus with garlic, mixed grill seafood, lobster tagliatelle and tuna fish steak with sesame seeds. The ambiance is sublime. If it's chilly or wet, dining takes place in the restaurant proper. But for the most part the esplanade is the place to eat, at an outside table accompanied by a glass of excellent wine and a charming river view.
