  No list of Lisbon Chinese restaurants would be complete without mention of the Estoril Mandarin, even though it's based in the resort town of Estoril, several miles west of the city centre. Fortunately, Estoril is an easy and picturesque train journey away and the excursion is certainly worth the effort. Located in Estoril Casino and owned by entrepreneur Stanley, Ho this restaurant is one of the best in Portugal (some say Europe) for genuine and authentic haute cuisine from China's Guangdong province prepared by chefs from Macau. Over 120 separate dishes are listed on the menu and the dining room has a capacity for 150 persons. The outstanding dim sum menu enjoys an unrivalled reputation as the freshest and most flavoursome found anywhere in the country. Deliciously light and appetising, dim sum is a favourite lunchtime choice. The quality of the gastronomy, the superb wine list and the elegant and sophisticated ambience means is reflected in the somewhat expensive prices, but the experience is worth the splurge.
