  • Whether you chose to participate or spectate, London's sporting scene is vast and accessable. Our top ten list runs the gamut between sitting in the stands at a Premiership football match and relaxing paddle on the Thames.

    London is home to several Premiership football clubs where you can watch some of the world's greatest soccer players in action. The north side of town is home to Arsenal FC at Emirates Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur. London's west side is fortunate enough to have three clubs: Chelsea FC, Fulham FC and the recently promoted Queens Park Rangers in Shepherd's Bush. And finally West Ham United is deceivingly located on the east side of town. Tickets are difficult to score, so booking well in advance is suggested. Most clubs offer tours of the facilities or have museums worth visiting.

    Watching England's rugby team in action at Twickenham Stadium is always an impressive event. International tournaments are played throughout the year. Visit the World Rugby Museum and take a tour of the stadium.

    Each summer Wimbledon hosts the prestigious eponymous Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships. For two weeks, a half a million spectators come to watch the Grand Slam tournament and fill up on strawberries and cream. Tickets are awarded through a ballot system which closes each December for the following year.

    If you would rather participate in sporting activities, London is home to numerous public parks offering running trails, cycling paths, swimming lidos and even stables for horse back riding. The River Thames is a boater's playground and begs to be explored by kayak in quieter areas.
