- From the entrance dominated by countless single orchids to the cavernous lobby, a luxurious eastern ambiance permeates designer Anouska Hempel's shrine to minimalism. The Hempel's rooms also bear her minimalist trademarks with lots of beige, black and white touches. Each one has been individually designed and all have the expected facilities - fax machines, stereos, VCRs, minibars and TVs. The Japanese-style Garden Square is a sight for sore eyes while the acclaimed I-Thai restaurant should be able to feed you better than most other hotel restaurants. There are also two extremely chic bars. Although some hip jet setters reckon that the hotel has been surpassed by the likes of The Sanderson in terms of cool, it is still popular with the international fashion and sport glitterati.

Really enjoyed staying here at the weekend. Nice quiet spot within 5 mins walk of Paddington. Decor very Zen like with smooth walls and no door handles which proved opening cupboard...

Overall we liked the Hempel. It is a 5 minute walk from Paddington, in a surprisingly quiet suburb. Really nice spot and yet a 10 minute cab ride from Oxford St etc. The Lobby area...

Full English breakfast served in rooms every morning. Four- and five-bedded rooms available. Discounts available for bookings of over a week. Three rooms are en suite. The house is not licensed to serve alcohol.
