- Jean-Christophe Ansanay-Alex is a French chef who is new to the UK restaurant scene, but is well established in his own country. His restaurant in France, l'Auberge de l'Ile, is located on l'Ile Barbe in Lyon and has held two Michelin stars since 2002. It is housed in a 17th Century monastery and is a 'Grand Chef' member of Relais et Chateaux. Ile Barbe is a sovereign state, and Jean- Christophe Ansanay-Alex is the Honorary Governor. JCAA's London restaurant is located in South Kensington and opened in early July 2008. The Building: The distinctive Edwardian building, formerly Lundum's and prior to that Frances Atkins' restaurant Shaw's and for many years the famous bistro Chanterelle, is a local landmark and was originally built as a library.
