Come to Clark's Pie & Mash shop for the look and taste of pre-gentrified Clerkenwell. They've been here over 50 years taking over a branch of the equally celebrated Manze's that opened at Exmouth Market in the 1930s. The tiled interior and menu has hardly changed in all that time and neither has the menu, if menu is not to grand a word for this establishment. There's meat pies and mash 'n' liquor (no, not Southern Comfort nor Jack Daniels, but a thin bright green parsley sauce), and for the more culinary adventurous, jellied eels (eels in aspic). An' all washed down wiv' a nice cuppa rosie lea (tea). Don't even think about trying to pay with a credit card, nor should you need to as this will be one of the cheapest meals you buy in London.
