Description:
In business after a long slumber, Scott's has regained its position as one of London's great seafood restaurants. Opened as an oyster warehouse in 1851 by a young fishmonger, John Scott, the restaurant first earned its fame at its Haymarket site where it rested until 1968. Now filled with cosmopolitan glitter in Mayfair, it doesn't rest on its long-ago fame but has made its reputation anew.
Once a favorite of Ian Fleming, creator of the James Bond character, it was the setting in the '50s and '60s where he discovered the dry martini -- "shaken, not stirred." It is dear to the seafood lover's heart, from market-fresh Dover sole to "cockles and mussels." Always ask about the fresh catch of the day or else order filet of halibut with chervil butter or Scottish lobster Thermidor. There's rib steak for the meat eater, even braised pork cheeks.

Very expensive and luxurious... can seem a bit pretentious and intimidating, especially with all the celebs and millionaires around. But who cares, the food is great. I have been there...
