19 Princelet Street

Description:

  • This large and rambling Huguenot house, built in 1741 for a family of silk weavers, is home to the Museum of Immigration or 19 Princelet St as it is known. It houses "Suitcases and Sanctuary", a moving exhibition put together by local children celebrating the various groups that have helped shaped the vibrant multi-cultural London of today. This, along with the building itself, draws queues of visitors to the rare public openings which are publicized on the website and in local press. To reduce stress on the fragile building, visitors are limited to a maximum of 40 at a time. - Jen Wight
