Description:
- Described as a London neighborhood that was looked down upon by the elite in the famous novel "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, the modern Cheapside is the heart of the financial services in London. It was damaged considerably in the Luftwaffe Blitz raids and during the Second Great Fire of London. Thereafter the historic architecture had lost a great degree of the charm it once possessed though it still remains a great attraction. Described by Charles Dickens as the "greatest thoroughfare in the city of London", it is the birth place of John Milton and Robert Herrick. Certainly a great place to visit if you want to witness the market place that boasts of great buys.
