• G Smith and Sons was the first shop to open in Charing Cross Road, opening in 1869. The shop is no longer family owned but there is a condition on the lease that says that this particular building can only be a tobacconist. It has changed very little in the intervening years and people travel very long distances, sometimes even from other countries, to visit and to look at the vast range of products. They sell most cigarettes, tobacco and snuff related products including pipe cleaners and related tools, snuff boxes, lighters, pipes and so on and can give plenty of advice where necessary.
