To commemorate the foiling infamous Gunpowder Plot by conspirator Guy Fawkes to blow up Parliament in 1605, Brits gather in parks and village greens for gawk at fireworks and burn an effigy of Guy a top enormous bonfires. Music, live entertainment, fun fairs, food stalls, music and mulled wine most often accompany the celebration. Many of London's parks host bonfire night parties not to miss.
