Description:
- Hanover Square is situated near Oxford Circus in the center of London. It is a popular square, an escape for shoppers and office workers from the busy city, with plenty of grass and benches. It was originally built between 1716 and 1720 by the Earl of Scarborough, claiming to be the first of the West End squares. It was originally a very upmarket housing area but now contains mainly offices, including the London office of Vogue. It includes St. Georges Hanover Square, an impressive 18th-century church which hosts free lunchtime recitals and an annual Handel Festival.
