NileGuide Expert tip:
The store carries many American designer brands; avoid them, as they're more expensive in London than they are in the U.S.
A byword for high-end middle-class urban taste, "Harvey Nicks" is almost as much a London institution as neighbouring Harrods. This "luxury lifestyle store" boasts eight floors of designer fashion, beauty and home collections, though women's clothing is the most important part of its business. The Fifth Floor is dedicated to food and restaurants, famous for its (Chelsea and Knightsbridge) "ladies who lunch". Harvey Nichols is also renowned for some of the best window displays in London.
