• Around the third week in May each year, hoards of green thumb enthusiasts descend upon Chelsea for one of London's most well known social events of the season. Set on the grounds of the Chelsea Royal Hospital, the massive five day event is sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society.  You'll find jaw dropping displays of flowers, trees, and vegetables as well as shopping stalls peddling every horticultural product imaginable. Full service restaurants, champagne bars and food vendors cater to the posh punters. Exhibitors recreate stunning gardenscapes on site to compete for the coveted medals. A member of the royal family opens the show and highlights of the event are televised on BBC. Tickets must be purchased well in advance from the RHS. Miss this show, then visit the world's largest flower show at Hampton Court Palace, held every July.
