Royal Gunpowder Mills

• The Royal Gunpowder Mills was the leading English producer of gunpowder during the 1800s. It now includes an interactive exhibition of the history and science of gunpowder, including mills, a collection of small arms and militaria, a transport and fire exhibition, a rockets exhibition, a 1940s wartime exhibition, and a gunpowder plot exhibition. There is also a narrow gauge railway, woodland, a nature trail and wildlife area with a train tour, a cafe and a shop. This attraction operates April through September. During school holidays, they have children's activities every week, and there are also many other activities throughout the year including a railway restoration project, VE Day Celebrations, Medieval Jousting Event, Legend of Robin Hood, Guy Fawkes Event and a Victorian Experience on Christmas.
