Description:

  • Tower Hill is one of the oldest parts of London, and the remains of a Bronze age settlement and a Roman village have been found there. It used to be under the administrative control of the Tower of London, and many well-known criminals were executed here from around the 1400-1700s. It is now the site of the Tower Hill Memorial, a war memorial commemorating those who died in the first and second wars, were in the Merchant Navy and fishing fleets and have no known grave. It lists the names of 24,000 British seamen and 50 Australian seamen.
