Trooping the Colour - London

  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Fine example of British pomp and circumstance

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Viewing the ceremony is quite difficult without a ticket to the stands so grab a place along the Mall, close to Buckingham Palace

    Description:

    • The grand military inspection and parade in honor of the Queen's official birthday occurs on the second Saturday each June, although her actual birthday is in April. Commemorating the Sovereign's birthday since 1748, the ranks carry (troop) their colours (flags) in grand pageantry. The Queen accepts the salute in person then inspects the troops before processing by carriage back down the Mall to Buckingham Palace . There she is joined by members of the royal family on the balcony for an RAF fly-past. Tickes must be requested in writing in January and allocated by public ballot. The ceremony and parade is broadcast live on BBC.
