You can buy an Oyster Card at any train or underground station or order one online: https://oyster.tfl.gov.uk/oyster/entry.do
Cost varies depending on how many zones you want to cover and whether you buy a travelcard or pay-as-you-go: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14416.aspx

Dear Visitor,
A London daily travel card can be bought at any tube station. Zones 1 & 2 is what most visitors need [and the cheapst one you can get] and costs £5.60 off peak - bought after 09.30 am - and £7.20 incl peak hours. e g all day. I hope this helps.
Ingrid. Try the Essential London Walk - every day 10 am by Eros statue, Piccadilly Circus!! Best value walking tour in London.

Buying an Oyster card works out the best I think, but it depends on what you are planning to do.

If you are a traveller I recommend to walk as you see much more and weather is brilliant on the moment.
If is to work I believe your employer can help with it and any one working with you will have some tips how to do the best for the cheapest.
Good luck
